Abandoned station

Today's weather was spectacular. And I had to work.

The blip shows the abandoned suburban train (S-Bahn) station Olympiastadion ("Olympic Stadium"). It was opened in 1972 to provide an additional mode of transportation for the visitors of the 1972 Summer Olympics to reach the venues in the Olympic Park, especially the Olympic Stadium. After the Olympics the station has seen service only during special events. Eventually, the station was closed in after the 1988 UEFA European Football Championship.

The station is scheduled for destruction, so it was high time that I blipped it, before it vanishes completely.
