Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT...

...a grizzly day like today would have ended in such a delicate wash of pink?

You may recognise this as yesterday's birch tree. It is special as it was a sapling found in the woods and planted in a new bed by my son just before he emigrated to Canada in 1994. It's now near it's maximum height at around 25 metres. I believe they are pioneer species, improving the soil so they can be followed by oaks and Scot's pine. I don't think we will live long enough for that ....although it is quite a jungle out there.

To Johnstone this morning to arrange for a new bathroom, then to the House for Art Lover while the rain teemed down and the puddles deepened. Had a good long chat with my prairie living, tree planting son later on, while I had my afternoon cuppa and he had his 6 am breakfast.
