Rising above
Yesterday was critically cold and both pavements and road were lethal following a smattering of snow, followed by rain and finished off by plummeting temperatures. I did manage to creep my way along the pavements, hanging on to everyone's hedges, until I came to the main road where the gritters had sent the ice scampering away. I was then able to enjoy the first quilting session of the the year - and it was great to catch up with everyone in the warmth of our meeting hall.
Today the ice had disappeared and the damp mist was lying low in the valleys. Luckily, as i started on my walk the snow capped tops of the hills were just visible, emerging from their frothy underlay - they looked fabulous and ethereal. However, by the time the walk was over, the mist had risen and taken over the entire landscape.
