LBJ or UFB?
Why is it always so difficult to decide which pic to post? Torn between some lovely, lacy foliage and this Little Brown Job (or Unidentified Flying Bird). The shot was taken at a considerable distance (our birds are truly wild and simply refuse to pose for me), but I was thrilled to see him - never spotted one here before - so he wins the day.
In fact, spent a perfect morning wandering around the garden (well, jungle), camera in hand, witnessing an unusual amount of bird activity, considering the hour. Happy to see a squirrel cuckoo, as they used to be very plentiful, particularly on the golf course, but disappeared after the floods. I don't think they have the bad habits of British cuckoos, but had better check before I get too excited. We do have an evil black bird that targets sparrows' nests, pushes their eggs out, and leaves the poor sparrows to raise a chick twice their size. Also saw a crested woodpecker, although he was unobliging and insisted on hiding behind bushes.
Catching up with chores this afternoon, between frivolous pursuits (Blipfoto) - emails, legal matters (ugh), records of work done. Will soon have to pack up and head down the hill - reluctantly, as always. If it's hot and humid here, I hate to think what Rio will be like.
