Beignets for my sister

My sister Dianne had surgery on her foot Thursday. To say it was a bunion removal makes it sound trivial however, this is a big thing. She is a real trooper and has a high pain threshold. It's a good thing because I caught her feeding her dogs and making coffee. It is supposed to be total bed rest for weeks. Nothing is keeping her down.
I have heard that stubbornness runs in our family.
so glad I escaped that family curse I have never seen that in myself however............

I feel that when you are recovering from surgery that baked goods are extremely important in the healing process. So, I made beignets and a bumble pie. I have to say that they are as good as the ones I bought in New Orleans years ago.

Hopefully she will follow her doctor's orders or I may have to bake some more.

Well weekend is over.......time to iron a dress for tomorrow
