A Dry and Thirsty Land
Just a peek for all who are struggling under rainy and stormy skies!!
Our desert terrain has altered little with the few rain clouds we have had over these past few days...except for the sudden appearance of these little bits of greenery!!!...and just off to the left was a camel herder cutting clumps for his young herd who were eagerly waiting on the other side of the fence!
Its quite incredible to think that just under the surface, waiting so patiently for the right conditions....lie miniscule seeds that spring to life at the first signs of refreshment and make the desert round about bloom!
I remember reading once about a team of archaelogists in London, during the summer vacation, who were excavating some roman ruins in the centre of the city. The work stopped when the heavens opened and rain poured down on their efforts. Two days later when they returned they were amazed to see hundreds of wild flowers covering their excavated plot....some that had never been seen since the days of the Roman Empire. What started as an archaelogical dig....ended with more than just historical facts...it became a veritable foraging patch for botanists of Kew Gardens!!
And all this because GK and I went off pursuing our own quest to find Dubai's much talked about brand new airport.....Dubai World Central!!!!
Its in the middle of the desert.....miles from civilisation....but Starbucks was has made it there......and we too sprang to life at the first sign of refreshment after the long long trek!!!
Happy Blipping Everyone!
