Sanding in the Sun

You would never know today, that there were people suffering in the cold, north of here...we had gorgeous sunshine, about 70F (21C) with very little wind.
I went outside after lunch to work on my old door and even had to take my hoodie off! Short sleeves in January, not bad.

After slaving with my wooden block wrapped in sandpaper for a while, I was tempted to try out the electric sander...a lot more fun than sanding by hand - although I was a bit of a mess :0)
I have taken off all the loose paint that was flaking off, and smoothed it down, but kept a lot of the old paint along with some bare wood, as I want it to look like a ragged old door still....that probably sounds weird LOL

I got some really cool starburst shots of the sun today, while I was taking a break from my sanding, but this one was more representative of my day.

a house full of boys today, I had 8 kids for a while, then went down to 7 as 1 had to go home. Luckily the weather was so nice they spent much of the afternoon outside so I hardly knew they were there. I cooked them spaghetti and meatballs with ice cream for desert...and one of them told me "you know something, you're really nice" awwww...melt :0) sweet boys
