Colca Canyon Condors

The Colca Canyon is a sight everyone should see, unfortunately I didn’t include a photo of it for today’s blip...my bad. This was the hardest blip choice yet. On the way to the Colca Canyon we were going to stop at on overlook in the hope of spotting some condors, luckily though on the way we saw a whole flock of them so we pulled over and before we knew it there was about 8 - 9 of them flying around. For those of you who are unfamiliar with condors they are basically giant, and I mean giant, vultures. They can come in between 117 to 135cm tall and have a wingspan ranging from 275 to 310cm. Naturally we were all out of the bus pretty fast and snapping photos. As they were very high up, occasionally swooping down near us, I didn’t think I had gotten any particularly great shot, it wasn’t until weeks later when we got home that I found this gem.

As I said the Colca Canyon was more beautiful than I can put into words. It was the kind of place where you can’t really take in what you’re seeing while you’re seeing it. We went for a walk along the edge as a way to further prepare for the hike, and everywhere you looked it just got more beautiful. It was the kind of situation where I took too many photos but not enough.

We then had a long drive back to our hotel in Arequipa.

One final thing, at 4am in the morning I found out that I got into the Masters of Screenwriting with the VCA! It was a good way to start the day.
