Research
With some time off work I offered to help my friend B with her thesis research. It's to do with Otters on the Water of Leith but today's task was about measuring the tiny little critters in the water. We followed the river upstream from Balerno as far as we could get. There was a lot of climbing over fences, dodging barbed wire, clambering over stuff, scrambling up and down banks and then trying to find the road that would get us back to the car. It was a great day. The first stop however was in this field of cows, every time we turned our back they came closer, it was quite disconcerting. Eventually they backed us into a corner, thankfully we had the net on a big stick to keep them away.
