Patent Slicer...

the best buy I have ever made!! As an avid marmalade maker each Jan/Feb I bought this wonderful bit of Victorian kitchenalia around 15 years ago. It is unbelievably brilliant and makes chopping the oranges for thin sliced marmalade a joy !! This is the first time I am using frozen oranges which were left over from last year.. and the slicer pretty much coped with that challenge too..I took a few larger bits out to hand slice. The oranges were rather tougher in texture so I did wonder if it would work at all.. happily the peel is now boiling away making steamy windows and smelling delicious!
