I wandered lonely as a cloud....
Well these clouds don't look particularly lonely but titles are what I always struggle with so that will do. Faced with a choice between a squirrel trying to make up for yesterday, a rather cheeky tit and this peculiar sky at 7:45am, I plumped for this one. I hope you like it as I burnt my scrambled eggs and red onions to get it and destroyed a pot.
For a larger view..
I had made my tea, buttered my toast and the eggs were just starting to thicken when I carried my mug through to the front room where I work, spotted the sky and ran upstairs with my camera. I took about 5 shots out of the top window trying to ignore Mustang Man who'd just got back from somewhere. He was staring up at me probably thinking I'd gone bonkers again. I shut the window wondering where the unpleasant smell was coming from assuming one of the neighbours was cremating something. Urrrrrrrggggghhhhh! As soon as I started down the stairs I thought of my poor eggs. There was a horrible hissing sound coming from the pot and the smoke was making my eyes smart.
I threw the pot in the sink and turned the cooker off at the same time. Strangely enough that pot was only ten months older than me. It had been in a full set as one of mom's wedding presents in December 1969 and was the only odd one left which was why I was given it when I first left home. It had looked as if it had aged better than me but unfortunately I have a slight edge now. The blackened pot was consigned to the dustbin and I added some marmalade to my toast instead. Sigh!
One good amazing thing about today was that it was so warm and sunny in the afternoon that I had to open a few windows! In January!! Well, it helped disperse the smell of burning anyway.
That was all that happened today. Oh yes! The phone rang in the middle of the afternoon and a woman with an artificially bright, irritatingly cheerful voice said,
'Good afternoon madam! Are you the lady of the house?'
I said I was and then she said,
'Can I just ask you one question?'
I answered, 'You just have.' and banged the phone down.
She didn't ring back anyway so I clearly got the answer right.
I might go to the office tomorrow for a change as I want to buy a new pot and shock everyone.
