Tam O'Shanter
In 2011 a series of book sculptures were discovered in various locations in Edinburgh and subsequently some more have been found – I think 13 altogether. The workmanship is really intricate and marvellous. The artist wishes to be known to very few people and wanted to pay tribute to those places that open up the world of imagination. ‘In support of libraries, books, words and ideas.’ Six are on display at the National Library of Scotland including this which was found at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway, and is based on the Robert Burns poem "Tam O' Shanter" - which is set in Alloway. It shows Tam being chased past the churchyard by the witches and warlocks one stormy night as he forces his horse across the river bridge to safety because they dare not cross running water.
