Berrima Gaol

Built between 1836 and 1839 by convicts. The original inmates endured very harsh conditions in this prison but over the years it had been remodelled and it's last use 2001 -2011 was a women's correctional facility.

Berrima is a small historic village in the Southern Highlands south of Sydney. It is not clear what is going to happen to this building. It will be preserved and suggestions include a museum and cinema…… meanwhile the rose garden is maintained which gives this rather foreboding building a welcome burst of colour.
