A Still Life Deconstruction, Piccadilly, London

Day 6 of 365. As part of my job I photograph paintings and this often includes still lifes.
As I was walking round with my camera at lunchtime I first spotted this very striking flower and then the painted twigs behind it and it just struck me as a modern day still life.
Flowers in still life paintings often symbolised a number of things - innocence, love, purity and devotion among other things. Two of the more unusual symbols I've seen in paintings are butterflies (they represent the soul) and, strangely, monkeys (which represent chaos and also man trapped by earthly and sensual desires!).
Today's photography quote is from Diane Arbus - " A picture is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you the less you know"
