Living dangerously
Another horrendous night - torrential rain, gales, with the added delight of thunder and lightening. I went for a wander round the garden this morning and there were floods were there had not been floods before. The little stream that takes water from the mountain out to the sea and skirts round our land had burst its bank and nearly joined up with the over-flow from the big pond. Fortunately it seeps back into the ground pretty quickly.
We both been working hard today - Himself slaving over a hot website and me doing a spot of writing, trying to put together a sample chapter. We went out for a quick blow after lunch and down to the sea at Farranamanagh. The distruction was incredible. Literally hundreds of tons worth of rocks had been thown up onto the shore and road, cement blocks ripped out from fences, boats scattered. We walked up to the cliff edge - the wind was mighty and the waves were colossal! ] Just after taking this pic I managed to slip over in the mud and landed in the gorse!
Another high tide tonight, more gales forecast and then hopefully things should be easing.
