fleeting visions

Afternoon light

I had been planning to head outdoors (now that the temperature has come up to a balmy -10 Celsius) to get a photo of the dogs playing in the snow for my journal. That was my plan, but now it has been put off for tomorrow because I was hijacked by light. I glanced into the dining room on the way out the door and had to stop.

Here is the rich yellow and red - the colours that I always seemed most starved for in the winter. Here is the table which was covered with delicious food for yesterday's party. Here is the warmth which was so present in last evening's gathering of friends. Here is the light - the sun sorely missed during subsequent days of freezing rain and snow and bitter winds.

Here is home.
