Well, some things you just can't forsee. This is the annual Bonnie Prince Charlie Parade in Derby. I know, who knew? Not me.

Anyway, I went to see it. It was a small affair but enjoyed enthusiastically by all concerned. The occasion was enlivened by the Drambuie Pipe Band ... from Kirkliston. I saw someone I thought looked familiar and said 'Do you come from Kirky?' 'Aye' came the reply. 'Me too' I said in my cockneee tones and he just looked at me and said 'oh aye?'.

Then they piped Charlie up the road (pictured) into the Cathedral at which points the pipers marched back out and down the road, still piping, into the nearest pub, still piping. Brought a tear to my eye, I have to admit.
