New landmark at Campbell Park
I went to the Open Market in the afternoon and was quite amazed to see this new landmark at the west end of Campbell Park, which connects to the downtown area through a flyover.
My first response was that I saw a miniature of stone tablets with calligraphy, similar to the famous Chinese Beilin (碑林) in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. But the tablets here have English in vertical order to mark some important events and days in local communities only, not extracts of master pieces from famous people such as Shakespeare or Churchill.
Quite an interesting finding but I think it is a bit uneasy to read English in the vertical way which is identical to the ancient Chinese printing/writing style.
