Letter of the day

Another beautiful sunny day.

We stayed at home and mucked around.

I've started a new thing with Marley where each day we choose a letter that becomes letter of the day. We then practice writing it through out the day on paper, the window with window markers, in chalk on the concrete and with paint.

We find things that begin with that letter or have the letter in it, we learn a simple word, practice spelling and sounding it out so he builds up a bank of words. We read books that that begin with that letter or we search for the letter within the text.

I'm hoping this will help him with reading, writing and his confidence.

I have a lot of books with traceable letters and wipe down flash cards to help him. Crayola do a lot of great stuff now for helping to read and write.

So here he is before bed in his minion onesie writing the letter 'z' and now he recognises and can spell the word zip. We read zog (book about a dragon) , we learned that buzz lightyear has 'z' in it.

And the one thing that's great is he loves it, he loves learning.
