Cascabel Chillies

This January I will mostly be eating vegetables as the annual New Year detox (or rather, fast) begins.

It all stems from the newspaper tradition of cutting out booze in the first month of the year. I thought, why not go a step further and clean up the diet.

It's not a good month to do it to be honest as reducing your carb intake makes you feel colder and the first two weeks can feel very grim. However after that your energy levels really pick up.

For the first week I always make a vegetable soup and am always looking for something to spice it up and make it taste a bit different (I eat it every day for around 4 days).

These Mexican chillies are medium in heat and have a fruity flavour (I am informed), so should add a little kick.
