What's Important

2013 has been an amazing year, full of highs and a couple of lows. No family holiday this year - too much going on but we are in the planning stages of 2014's - Biarritz By Bus.

The first quarter of the year passed by in what hindsight has shown to be the rut into which my life had dropped. Redundancy jolted me and the family out of that rut and showed us that there is a better life. The NAVY again lost to the Army at Twickenham, it was the usual great week-end.

The second quarter of the year was the run up to Clare's Graduation from Plymouth University, a very proud day. With both Clare and I working the summer seemed to slip by with only the odd day at the beach. Samantha and Joshua had a well deserved summer break from school, they had both worked hard and achieved very good school reports. My Mum's inquest came and went, bizarre findings but its done.

The third quarter saw us drawing breath, Clare continued to look for a Nursing Role that she wanted, not the first thing on offer, in the meanwhile she gained valuable experience and earned money with Kernoflex. I found a degree of enjoyment and peace driving a bus as well as improving my golf game. Samantha and Joshua returned to school, Josh with little enthusiasm, which is the norm. Samantha with a sense of impending doom regarding GCSE exams - they will both do well.

And so into the final quarter, Clare is working on the Frailty Unit at Treliske, enjoyable but stressful Sam and Josh continue to do well at school, excellent reports again, me, my golf game is improving.

My wider family, Sarah and Manolo are both well and surviving Spain's desperate economic situation, my Grandson Luis reached 16, and is turning into a very fine young man. Anais my Granddaughter continues to surprise, artistic and good at Judo she is still "The Terror".
Barry and Janette have settled into their new home and are expecting a second child around March, Chloe, my Granddaughter is gorgeous.

These ten people were what was important to me in 2013, they will be just as important to me in 2014.

My family I love you all dearly, in 2014 to those I see daily, harmony, to those I see less often let's make the effort.
