Lucky Investments

I've only recently noticed this fallen trunk at St Ives has been initiated as a Wishing Tree. These are apparently dotted around all over the country: there is a fully coated, magnificent example at Bolton Abbey, West Yorks.
It made me think about superstition and how despite our hi-tech developement such practices are still really appealing. We still believe in luck.

I recently read a great book on luck - 'The Luck Factor' by Richard Wiseman.

He goes into some detail about how you can increase your own luck. But I don't think it included the Wishing Tree. Maybe he missed something.
