Diving board at Coate Water
Took a walk around the lake at Coate Water Country Park after church today. Glorious sunshine, but still quite muddy on parts of the walk.
This 10m art deco concrete diving board, which was built in 1935 to replace a wooden previous one, has recently gained listed status. I personally don't like it, but it is a feature and was well framed by the tree for this shot. These days it is no longer used, except by the birds who cover it with droppings and other debris!
I guess the listed status means that it may get cleaned up in due course, but I wonder at what expense, and whether that money could be better used for more useful amenities.
