River Almond

Following another day, evening and night of wind and rain we took an afternoon walk by the River Almond, upstream from Cramond to Cramond Brig. Unsurprisingly the water level was very high (though not at flood level), fast-moving and muddy, and very little evidence of birdlife.

This is the weir by Dowie's Mill, with the old bridge just seen in the background. It is interesting to compare this view with that at the same location on Google Streetview, (taken in early spring) to see how much the river rose over the large rocks.
