Wet Walk
It was raining cats and dogs with a strong wind, not a good day for a walk.
Naturally, we donned all the appropriate gear, including waterproof cover for the rucksacks, and off we went. This is because I was too tired disinterested lazy to take advantage of yesterday's clear, dry weather and needed the exercise.
We parked in Colinton walked the Water Of Leith path as far as Saughton Winter Garden, which, to our relief, was open for 'facilities' and a sit-down in the dry with our snack. The walk continued until we reached Corstorphine Road, when gusts of wind and rain persuaded us to cut short the outing and take a bus to the West End (along Shandwick Place - now that's a novelty!) and change for the bus back to the car.
This is the weir downstream from Colinton -all along the river was the colour of mud and fast-flowing but, despite this, we spotted two dippers, a heron and two goosanders among the ducks, also a wren along with blackbird and ubiquitous corvids.
Back home for a late lunch of Christmas leftovers and copious cups of tea.
