Boxing Day

Dateing back to the Middle Ages, Boxing Day is traditionally the day following Christmas Day, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts, known as a "Christmas box", from their bosses or employers.
Today, Boxing Day is the bank holiday that generally takes place on 26 December.
It is observed in the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and some other Commonwealth nations.
In South Africa, Boxing Day was renamed Day of Goodwill in 1994. In Ireland, the day is known as St. Stephen's Day (Irish: Lá Fhéile Stiofáin) or the Day of the Wren (Irish: Lá an Dreoilín).
In many European countries, including Germany, Poland, Scandinavia and the Netherlands, 26 December is celebrated as the Second Christmas Day.................

that out of the way:
I recently learnt through blip not all parts of the world know the tradition of "Boxing Day"..

Since our own children were married and left home our family know it as "our family get together" although this year we have part of our family not here, our youngest Son Gareth his partner Jules and our two other precious grandchildren Keely and Jaxon celebrated Christmas in Albany in the SouthWest, although we included them over the phone yesterday and today, we will have another family get together when they are back in Perth in January.

It was hard to chose my blip for this topic, I had the unwrapping of presents with paper, boxes, tissue spread like a carpet, I had a great image of the table spread with a feast to feed an army, i was surrounded by so much love and happy faces, in the end i chose this one, without this bunch I would not be me.
Left to right:
Mollymay, our Son Mark with son Deklan, our daughter-in-law Nadine with their Daughter Ruby, our Daughter Sara with their son Jacob, Cobey Sara's husband with their other son Jacob, and last but not least is the man who made all this possible Glyn by asking me 42 years ago to share his life, through thick or thin good or bad, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To all our fellow blippers: I hope you all have a great Boxing Day!
