A steaming crepe

Well, it's nearly here. Christmas Eve and the sun has set, the wind howling around the rooftops. The cold is biting but we're warm(ish) and safe inside.

Today we took the 44 bus into Edinburgh for a few very last final things for this Christmas. To exchange a toy, buy some small additional present to supplement gift cards so people would have something more exciting than an envelope to open on the great day.

Then we looked around Edinburgh's famous Christmas Market. We were overwhelmed by vendors offering variations on mulled something or other at £4.00 a glass and could have bought sausages of every description some of which contained ingredients which may once have been part of or near an animal.

In addition to drinks and sausages there were stalls hawking chocolate stuff, coffee beans flavoured with all sorts of chemical additives and several creperies. I stopped by this one as an interesting combination of fillings were being used: bacon and chocolate spread. It also happened, quite by accident that a large quantity of steam erupted from somewhere adding an ephemeral effect to the stall.

After the excitement of the Market it was off to Marks and Spencers and then the No44 back to Balerno where mulled wine and winter Pimms were on offer.

Perhaps going to the Midnight Service tonight.

Hope everyone has a very happy Christmas.
