The little things

When they bought me this, they were only big enough to hang it on the lower branches, but now they're taller than the tree. They still wrote letters to Santa but now send me their Amazon wishlists. We used to get up together on Christmas morning but now they live elsewhere.
When Christmas is almost upon us I get a little anxious about when I'll see them and feel a little sad when I think about what it used to be like, until I unpack the decos and see this little guy. I don't think they even remember it now but it's enough to remind me that all year long they let me know that I'm still a special Dad to them. And that's enough to make Christmas wonderful every year.
