Lake Bunyonyi.. Little Angels
Today half the group decided to visit the nearby orphanage so we walked up the hill to the edge of the lake where we saw the volunteer huts and new classrooms being constructed.
We each went into a class to observe, the class I joined had 24 children of a variety of ages and the teacher had her own child on her back.
They were doing a mixture of lessons - identifying the smallest/biggest number, identifying animals or objects with the letters of the alphabet and lots of singing.
I taught the class - numbers - and then marked some of their books.
Then it was time for play, we all went outside and formed a big circle for singing and dancing and then some of us were pounced upon to have our hair plaited!
After a sales pitch by the founder as to sponsoring a child - I felt uncomfortable as was a bit too hard sell for me and would have been an unaffordable amount each month - it was time to return to camp by boat.
An emotional morning to see kids who were genuinely so happy with very little.
An afternoon in the sun before the now regular afternoon heavy rains and then dinner and drinks by the fire before bed.
