Tower of Fireworks

The Virgin of Guadalupe is the patron saint of all Mexico, and today is her day. All week there have been processions, candle lightings, and blessings of children. Today there is a carnival highlighted by a castillo, which is an enormous tower of whirling, whistling colored designs (bells, flowers, stars) made of fireworks that throw showers of sparks in every direction. It is lit in sections, and between each lighting, the sky sparkles with other beautiful fireworks. At the end, from the top of the castillo, a small angel flies off into the heavens.
What a wonderful spectacle!

I posted a few other photos of the castillo here. They are not technically good, but you can get the concept. Because of the intense light, I have not yet learned how to photograph them well.
An interesting thing is that all of this takes place right in the street, and the crowds of people watch from the sidewalks.
