Fungi Extraordinaire?

Help Z, I don't know what this is? Please help your dear old mom-in-law to identify! ;-)

Ronnie jr called us to the garden this afternoon to show us this, growing on the pieces of tree trunks decorating the flowerbeds in the back garden. I snapped them and then Ronnie removed them with a disposable plastic glove which we then destroyed, we are scared it might be poisonous and the dogs might just take a bite of it!

My 'One Year Ago' was snapped by Ronnie and Anrie en route to the fairest Cape! ;-)
