The Hydro

Headed down the centre this morning and just about finished my Christmas shopping, only a couple of small items to purchase now.

Saw E and A in the afternoon, G is down in Birmingham for two days, so A is in charge. Checked all was well with them, came home early so that we could meet C in town for a meal at Frankie and Benny's at the Quay, before going to the Hydro to see Andre Rieu.......C's birthday gift to us.

It was just fantastic! The Hydro is quite something, absolutely huge, holds 12,000, I am told, and it was lit up in colours of South Africa in honour of Nelson Mandela.

Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra gave us a wonderful evening of music and song. We were dancing in the aisles! He has a soloist from Cape Town, South Africa, and she sang a South African song dedicated to Mandela which was very moving. Thanks to our wonderful daughter for a night to remember!
