A Good Fisherman

We went out to a local botanical garden this morning. Flowers, fruit trees, a pond with turtles, and butterflies.

With our shortage of flying insects in Michigan this year...it was fun to see some butterflies, and some dragonflies.

We stopped at the gardens office and got some turtle food. They come by voice command. You never know how stupid you sound until you call out..."Here turtles. Here terrapins. Come to us...o shelled ones." The turtles responded.

But...along with the turtles come small fish. And...the small fish bring in fishing birds. We watched this anhinga catch 4 different fish. Two of the fish he just swallowed, but with the 2 bigger ones...he had to exit the pond to reposition the fish in order to swallow it.

If you're in a gray place like Michigan is right now...take a look at my FLICKR PAGE. It's so nice to see some color.

Speaking of color...we're off to see a Christmas house display. 500,000 lights. The Tampa Bay Times says it defies belief.

We'll see.
