Clear the Decks
Or in this case the rooftop. The workmen got here early this morning to shovel off the house and garage roofs. We woke up to -20 F this morning. I'm glad it was them out there and not me! By the time I had to head out on errands it warmed up to -6. Sure hope the entire winter isn't going to be this cold.
Central heating is such a blessing. I remember growing up on the farm. We had an oil burner in the kitchen with blankets on the open doorways to keep the heat in. We had flannel pajamas and flannel sheets. I would sleep with my head under the blankets and my breath would help keep me warm. When a litter of pigs would be born in this type of weather, Mom would put them in our oven to warm them up their first day.
