Having a Marri Good Time

This beautiful Carnaby's Cockatoo is one of the permanent birds that lives at the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre in Martin, WA. The centre is situated in the hills east of Perth on the site of an old wildlife sanctuary. They have a fantastic set up for cockatoo rehabilitation and a wonderful band of volunteers to help out. I got to go into the interactive aviary and handle some of their hand tame cockatoos (mostly escaped pets that can't be released). So nice to interact with some healthy, friendly ones for a change!

After the whirlwind centre visit I headed home, picked up Bonnie and headed straight out to Swanbourne Beach for a run along the sand and some relaxation time. It was a beautiful day for it.

But not much time for relaxation as our work Christmas drinks were at one of the vets houses a little further north. So I had to high tail it home, drop off Bonnie, make a spinach and cheese cob loaf dip and then head up North!
