Look at me!

Today's the day ............................ to learn a thing or two

For as long as I can remember - I've been scared of heights.

Actually, I used to be much better but now I'm completely hopeless - ask any of my friends. It's just one of those things that you learn to live with. So, imagine my surprise then, when I came upon this picture of my Mum today as I was sorting through some old pictures.

It was taken in 1939, when she would have been 19 and it is her on the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge near Ballintoy in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. I've looked it up and it links the mainland to the tiny island of Carrickarede. Its span is 66ft and it is 98ft above the rocks below. Now I would say that this is a picture of someone quite happy in her environment. Happy enough to have their eyes wide open and even able to give a jaunty wave.

Mmmh - can't be the genes then .............................?
