Rack saga
The wine rack saga continues… I set to and sawed a bit off it this morning. Boy! It warmed me up. Two of them. Just need to glue them together and it’s a perfect fit. Nearly… And I got bonus bits for the wood burner. Win win.
We set off for the vast expanse of consumerism that is Ikea. We wanted those wee tumblers for wine - stackable, don’t break easily, and cheap as chips. We did get another few things there as well, as usually happens. Including a day bed, and… a wine rack cupboard thingie… Which means that the chopped up Argos wine rack is now redundant. And un-returnable...
We looked at the day bed, as we will need one. We were told it was free delivery and free assembly on this week, so we bought it there and then, though we hadn’t intended to get it. But when we got to the delivery bit, it wasn’t true. Well, half of it was. But we needed the voucher that had been sent by email, which we didn’t have. Anyway, it was worth paying £20 - I don’t think I’m up to assembling a day bed. Although I did do a three door wardrobe once. With no bits left over!
We had a great lunch too! Really good value. And tasty. JR exclaimed, ‘Chestnuts!’ as she tasted the stuffing.
When we collected the day bed, which consisted of three Very Heavy Big Boxes and two mattresses, the trolley was uncontrollable. It would only move sideways, and so I spent my time trying to avoid knocking down all the displays. An ice cream was needed when we got rid of it. And I have discovered a new obsession - cinnamon buns!!
When we got home, we decided that the Ikea wine rack looked too complicated to assemble didn’t quite fit, so the Argos one has got a reprieve! Phew.
AND we don’t seem to have the tumblers, which is what we went for!! So Ikea tomorrow to return the wine rack, get the tumblers, and some more cinnamon buns.
Had a walk round the block when I got home. Cobbles in desperation.
