Lunch at SOMA Creekside-Chef Dave Shiplett

I have been wanting to eat at the new SOMA (South of Manatee Avenue) Creekside for some time now and finally got there today. The new space is exciting and the food is as great as SOMA always is. Chef Dave Shiplett is a master of sauces and lunch today was no exception. We had calamari in a peanut ponzu sauce that is a sweet and hot dish...so exciting. My friend had conch cakes and I had a wonderful chicken with a basil pesto with mozzarella sourdough sandwich that was sublime. We were all so full we said no to dessert. But after seeing a description of his newest desert on facebook, I should have saved room for a tapioca shooter that sounded awesome. He is, as always, pushing the envelope on food creations! Bravo to the new space-really classy and oh so nice!
