Make a Wish

SO proud of Reuben. Torn between doing my job of photographing the kids and just wanting to stare at him on stage. He had an amazing time and he confidently spoke his name in front of 760 guests in the great ballroom, amongst them Lakers star Kobe Bryant, Andy Garcia (swoon), Bill & Giuliana and the Mayor of Los Angeles. I'm wistfully thinking now how he was conceived in a lab less than a mile away in Beverly Hills so I guess he felt right at home. Had that funny moment of hearing "Oh just walk right past me" as I did with old geography pal from uni Ben Trod who's now the general manager of the Beverly Wiltshire. Well we've both changed a tad in 24 years. I've cemented one thing and that's that I seriously love shooting events, up against the stage and pottering around tables despite my rubbish joke telling abilities, but absolutely do not want to be one of the paparazzi throngs on the step & repeat (red carpet) fighting over who's ruining whose exposure with flash. The 30 Wish kids were catalysts to the $20k and $50k donations coming in from the audience in flurries. Home and feeling very fortunate to be part of Make a Wish through Reuben (on the PR and photography team). And yes you bet Reuben did his infamous dance on the stage...

Fearless. Seriously, can you believe he's facing a pack of 30 testosterone fueled paparazzi on the Step & Repeat carpet.
