Day 4 December 2013 Challenge: a mystery

There is the top set of a pair of dentures built into a flint wall in the high street. They originally appeared when the wall was first built in 1954, and were replaced when the wall was partially rebuilt in 2009. It was during the rebuild that the mystery was solved as to why they were there.

Many different stories had circulated over the years, though the true reason turned out to be quite mundane (the original builders came across them while building the wall, and decided to include them for fun). There is nothing to explain their presence there, so it remains a mystery to many visitors that spot them.
