Advent

The weather is wonderful. Here we are, at the start of December and still sunny and relatively warm. Very smiley weather.

I woke early. 6.30 about the same time#2 son got in. Oh the carefree days, and nights, of youth. except he's artificially young.

I didn't go swimming. instead I transferred all my phone photos to the laptop. I take so many on my phone and I don't want to lose them even if many are of a certain cat.

Then I did some gentle housework, including washing the kitchen floor, before going down to the Manor to bring the folks up and check their broadband, which wasn't working.

I brought them back the long way, Braid Hills Road. The light was fantastic and the views amazing. To the West as far as Perthshire, the upper reaches of the Forth and West Fife and to the east, way past Cockenzie to the Laws, Berwick and Traprain.

They didn't stay long though. Dad was tired, been moving stuff around. The internet still wasn't working but 30 mins on the phone to a helpful woman in New Delhi sorted that. It's stunning when Luke sorts my work PC remotely from London, but New Delhi!

I've spent the evening watching tv and not writing the Christmas cards. However I did manage to get a cut price Advent candle and calendar from Margiotta on the way home. So now we have an agent candle, an Advent crown, the cloth calendar with very small sweets and a regular calendar worth doors.

But no kids so somehow it feels like a ritual, a habit, not Advent.
