The Hunt for a Hundred
Today marks my hundredth blip! Naturally I knew it needed something special. I had it all planned out, I would go on a hunt for a hundred. The idea was to find a street sign, or street number, or some advertising, or anything really that had the number 100 on it in an interesting and unique way.
I got up this morning after spending a night checking my phone waiting for that message from Hol telling me she had got to Quito safely (it came later in the day, she's all good and no doubt sleeping peacefully right now). I went to the suit fitting for Josh and Courtney's wedding, which will be in February, and then Dad and Mum drove me back to Brunswick, where after a goodbye to them that included a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as I won't be seeing them until after I get back, I was off to work.
It was after work that I had planned the big hunt! Me and my bike where going to roam the streets together and not return home until we had found the perfect hundred! Then on the drive home I saw my speedo, thought it would actually do the job pretty well, and called off the hunt. Of course to make the best use of my speedo I wanted it to be pointing at the one hundred. I got the car up to a hundred and while juggling my camera and the steering wheel while doing some admittedly reckless driving, took my photo. Easy as that! I am of course joking. I must admit to taking two photos then doing a little photoshopping to input the needle and I promise the car was completely stationary the whole time.
A hundred blips done and I'm still keen to keep going. It's been great, I've learnt a lot, discovered they joy of the hunt for that perfect photo and taken some shots I'm really proud of. Blip and all the blipsters in it have encouraged me and kept me motivated throughout this time. The community feeling you get from blip is nothing short of sensational. People from all around the world are kind enough and friendly enough to leave a message or some stars to someone who's a complete stranger. I think it's awesome, and I thank you sincerely all for it.
