Compare & Contrast - Woodland Impressions

This morning I was driving past a small woodland that has a lot of young saplings in and noticecd the strong side-lighting which emphasised the veretical stripes of the tree trunks. I stopped the car and go out to explore. I immediately got side-tracked by the beautiful backlit grasses and I took a number of shots though I found it hard to isolate specific clumps.

As I was leaving I had a quick go at doing woodland impressions by moving the camera vertically during shooting. When I got home and looked over the images on my computer I decided that these impressionistic shots were by far the best as they conveyed what I had originally seen, brightly lit vertcal stripes.

I've included a couple taken at different shutter speeds 1/25 and 1/8 second as I found it hard to chose between them :- one was definitely impressionistic but gave you a good idea of some of the detail whilst the other was more abstract but in many ways more dynamic. Which do you prefer ?

I did a similar shot in another part of this woodland in earlier this year in springtime
