Slightly different angle from my previous photo of the Star Flyer!
Where has today gone?!
Up and out early this morning for a run. A slight route/time miscalculation and I found myself going up the Mound, thankfully during the slow interval! I can't help feeling that it might be nearing the time when it is justifiable to invest in a gym membership.
Arrived into university early to do some final tweaks and preparation for my presentation. I had half agreed with my SS that I would do a practice run-through with him first thing and at the time he had suggested inviting the rest of the team. I honestly thought that none of them would come/he wouldn't mention it to them in the end. However, I soon found myself giving the presentation to a little group of staff. All lovely feedback & very helpful...but definitely more nerve racking than the presentation itself!
My own presentation out of the way and it was great to hear from other PhD students about their projects. Not a bad day at all. Though presentations do seem to get my adrenaline going a bit so the afternoon was a bit of a crash!
Back to the flat and I walked through the door to a little pile of post, including an advent calendar from mum :) I don't think I will ever be too old for advent calendars!
The day was all topped off with a fab wee evening with Anna, Danielle and Rachel. First stop was a ride on the Star Flyer which was great fun. I would happily do it again so that's a good sign! Then on for a tasty dinner at Bella Italia before making our way to the Coca Cola truck. The queue was long and there was no Coke left but it was fun :) Photos snapped by the castle and the tree, then the day was done!
Every now and again I get a little bit "stuck", focusing too much on the bigness of my PhD and other challenges along the way without really seeing the big picture. Days like today remind me to keep perspective, that I have much to be thankful for and the PhD really isn't everything. God is good!
