Its All Quite Black and White Really

Today has been filled with numerous assessments and countless rehearsals, and once again I was called upon to cover for the Art lessons while Waffaa made last minute adjustments to the National Day exhibits!!!

The Foyer does looks magnificent with these black and white reproductions of all that goes to make up the UAE. The camels, the palms, the tents, the coffee pots, the bedouin and the dhows, not to mention the iconic buildings.

All produced by the children during their timetabled art lessons.

Rehearsals showed off some amazingly choreographed dances and songs....drama skits and musical pieces played on traditional tablas (drums) and the Oud (one stringed guitar). The aromas of incense and rosewater permeated the air while power point presentations of historical slides and the early history of the nation, rotated on the walls in the background.

Tomorrow...splendid dishes of food will arrive for all to taste and share, Camels will appear bedecked in colourful saddlebags, falcons tethered to posts will be ready for their spectacular airiel display, local ladies will be busily putting henna designs on eagerly outstretched hands, and wonderful cooking demonstrations will take place by the 'ladies of the burqa!!

Guess there's nothing left to do but hurry off to bed in preparation for a day of celebration!!

Happy Blipping Everyone!
