Thanksgiving Day in the United States of America

The Pilgrim fathers might have come ashore in a rowing boat similar to this one in, the centre of this blip, caught in the early light this mild and calm morning.

I was thinking of the first settlers in the US as I ran this morning and the impact their arrival had had on the native Americans and am not sure I have come up with any satisfactory answers. There seemed to be an ornithological anaolgy on the beach today as land based starlings and pigeons duelled with gulls and oyster catchers in the blue sky over the sands. The beach was suddenly a noman's land in a very unexpected way.
