French Beans

I just met the downstairs neighbor. She's from Cypress and she's a gardener who has created a beautiful secret garden behind our flat. She has been here in this building for 18 years and she brought fig trees from Cypress that were a foot tall when she planted them and are now probably 50 tall. There is a pot of mint from Cypress as well as local basil, rosemary, corn, tomatoes, squash and french beans. I've never seen French beans before. They're beautiful.


I think I'll try this recipe for French Bean Crumble.
