Fire!

Our farming neighbours were having an enormous bonfire in the woods yesterday. I could still see it from half a mile away when we went to bed last night. First thing this morning, we went to have a look and found it still burning. Sarah had a good poke around in the embers. There's something exciting and anarchic about bonfires, I have to admit. Not sure about the wisdom of letting one burn unattended under trees, though. Or of wasting a lot of perfectly good wood that we could have burned to warm our house...
