Emus
The wunderkammer of creatures continues.
Wombats, graze like cattle beside our tent at night. Stout and furry, the shine of their eyes twinkles back at us in the torchlight as we walk to the bathroom...
Chunky, dark swamp wallabies regard us tentatively from the roadside bushes like ewoks from the star wars cast. They dash off in the undergrowth with a hop. A long tail with a white tip flashes by.
And prehistoric emus waddle and graze like oversize geese, or lost dinosaurs wrapped in shaggy coats.
