Bloke in a field at night, looking out over Munlochy Bay. He's standing just ahead of the zone that appears in focus. But as it was dark, much darker than things appears here, that's hardly surprising. Especially at f/1.4. Orange lighting provided courtesy of distant streetlights, and 30 second exposure. The Earth moved, relative to the stars. Should have extended the tripod legs - it was so dark, he had bother finding the camera after the shot was taken...
Nikon recently brought out a 58mm f/1.4 lens, and despite the Premium Bonds win this month, he hasn't bought one. It'll take a fair number of £25 prizes to reach the current £1,600 asking price. Not that he'd even consider that. He likes this much smaller, secondhand, manual focus lens from Voigtländer. Bought it last year, for vastly less, cheapskate that he is. Took a couple of his favourite photos with it, and the D300, back then too.
